St. Paul's Anglican Church Women (ACW) invites you to a "Dorcas Shower" on Sunday, August 26 at 12:15 noon in our parish hall.

The Anglican Church Women in our Diocese of British Columbia make and collect new items for babies to young adults which are sent once a year to four parishes in dioceses in northern British Columbia. This ministry is called "Dorcas" after the Biblical woman of good works in the New Testament.

In May 2018 a fire at St. John's Church House in Duncan (where the items collected through the year were stored), destroyed all of the items.  This "shower" will help restock the collection in preparation for shipment to the north in October.  Here is our "wish list":

  • Quilts/Afghans - 36" X 30", 44" X 54", 54" X 64"
  • Socks, hats, mitts, slippers
  • Scarves - 8" X 39" (child), 9" X 59" (adult)
  • Sweaters
  • Teddy Bears
  • Baby sweater sets (with booties & bonnets)
  • Under shirts for babies
  • Sleepers, receiving blankets
  • Bibs, diaper pins

"Joy Bags" are sent up north for people having a hospital stay, and are given locally to our Loaves and Fishes Foodbank for distribution to people living on the streets.  We are looking for the following"Joy Bag" contents:

  • Sewing thread and needles
  • Safety pins (assorted sizes)
  • Combs, small Kleenex packages
  • Ivory hand soap, face clothes
  • Small toothpaste, toothbrushes
  • Assorted small cosmetics (shampoo, etc.)
  • Note pads

Thank you for your support!
