The Rev. Catherine Dafoe Hall joined the parish of St. Paul, Nanaimo in May of 2018 after being a frequent visitor for many years.
Cathie was ordained in 1987 for the Diocese of Cariboo where she served in parish ministry and as diocesan program officer. She served in the Diocese of New Westminster for 15 years before moving to Kelowna. Although retired from parish ministry since 2014 she is still an active priest in the Diocese of Kootenay, licensed to be the Director of EfM Canada. Cathie’s passion is for adult Christian formation. She was an EfM student in 1982 in the first group in the Diocese of BC. It met at St. John’s Quadra; and during those student years she discerned her call to ordained ministry. In 1988 she became a mentor and started groups in her two-point parish. In 1995 she travelled to Sewanee, Tennessee to become a trainer of mentors, and in 2009 she was appointed Director of EfM Canada.
Coming to live in Nanaimo is the fulfillment of a dream to return to the coast of BC where she was born and has lived most of her life. Cathie joins generations of extended family in Nanaimo, including a daughter and son-in-law, some adult grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. Cathie is a widow, her husband Harry died in 1996.
