As a downtown church, St. Paul’s has been involved in a front door ministry for over 20 years.  This ministry distributes $15 food gift cards from Thrifty Foods, the Superette Grocery and Country Grocer once a month (on the third Tuesday) to 30 folks who are members of the working poor, unemployed or living on the street.

This ministry also distributes bus passes and clothing vouchers which help people get to medical appointments and choose clothing often for job interviews  Thanks to a partnership with Nanaimo Food Share, we also provide 30 takeout meals each month and the Homeless Outreach Team of the Snuneymuxw First Nation often join us to hand out healthy snacks, water, gloves, toques, socks and blankets. This ministry is funded by donations from the parish and from the till tape program at Country Grocer.
