You are warmly invited to join us for the following services during Holy Week at St. Paul's Anglican church in down town Nanaimo.
Holy Communion, Wednesday, April 17 at 11 am. Join us for our weekly service taken from the Book of Common Prayer.
- Maundy Thursday service, Thursday April 18 at 7 pm. We will gather to break bread and remember Christ's institution of the Holy Eucharist. We will offer ourselves as we re-enact the gesture of washing feet and hands as a symbol of servant discipleship. We will strip away all the fine linens and vessels in the sanctuary and altar. We will empty the Ombre and keep vigil until Holy Saturday.
- Good Friday service, Friday, April 19 at 11 am. We will meditate on the cross and enact the story of faith. You are invited to light a tea light and venerate the cross at the end of the service.
- The Great Vigil of Easter, Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 pm. The Great Vigil of Easter prepares us for the resurrection of our Lord. We will celebrate with fire and light and the Holy Eucharist. As the sun goes down on Easter Saturday we will gather in the church garden. We will light the fire and the Paschal Candle and we will make our public profession and witness to the world around us that faith matters; that the Resurrection matters! That God-with-us matters! We will enter the church and raise the lights and shout with joy that Christ is alive.
- Easter Sunday, Sunday, April 21 at 8 am and 10:30 am. He is Risen! Hallelujah! Please join us as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
