We are pleased to present Harrison Cole, organist at King’s College Cambridge, in the inaugural recital on the newly installed Makin Organ, April 13th at 7PM. Tickets are available here.

Harrison Cole is a 25-year-old organist, a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and Assisting Organist for the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, where he is responsible for assisting with the training of the choristers, playing for recordings, tours and broadcasts, including the annual Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve, broadcast to millions across the world.

Harrison performs regular concerts around the UK, Europe, and overseas: recent projects include tours of the US and Estonia with the Choir of King’s College, with upcoming projects in Slovenia and Singapore. Away from music, Harrison can usually be found diving into a good novel, going to the theatre, and walking around art galleries.

The audience will surely have an enjoyable evening, as Harrison plans to engage the audience by speaking about each selection he will perform, giving the audience a window into what to listen for in each piece. Also, he will also talk about his work at King’s College – “I think it will be interesting, as the recital will present a snapshot of my musical life at King’s and the repertoire we/I do”.

Harrison is reserved when speaking of his experiences and abilities. Following a recent recital, it was said about him - Harrison is one to watch out for as an eminent organist of the next generation.

The new MAKIN ORGAN was designed and installed by Stephen Wittman of The Organ Guy, located in Vancouver, BC. The organ is a replica of the console design, layout, and the distinctive sounds of British Pipe Organs, which are well-loved throughout the UK. This is the first Makin Organ installed in Canada. It reflects the tonal characteristics of the Wordsworth & Co. (Leeds, England) Pipe Organ that was originally installed in 1907. Sadly, in 1930, the Wordsworth organ was destroyed in a fire which consumed a large portion of downtown Nanaimo.
